Cinemafantastique 5 is a go!!

We are so looking forward to another installment of Cinemafantastique! Our Cinemafantastique5 Film Freeway is up and running if you would like to submit your films. Once again we are looking for the weird and wonderful that make up the spectrum of Horror, Thriller, Sci-fi, and Erotic films…really we like anything that is on the Darkside (pun intended), so if you have an animation, drama, comedy, or a documentary film, you can submit that too!! Once again we would like to thank everyone for their patience while we attended to our Darkside adventures; we are excited to be back, and see what you talented folks have going on!

We’d also like to thank Richard and Samantha Lukacs of Crone Cult Pictures for the awesome photography we were able to use to make our graphics this year.

Vancouver International Women In Film Festival Vancouver!! March 5-10, 2019

We are delighted once again to be Community Partners with Women In Film + Television Vancouver for this awesome festival showcasing the very talented female filmmakers from around our globe. The festival is running March 5-10 at the Vancity Theatre in Vancouver, as well as film screenings, the festival offers a variety of ancillary programming including workshops, pitch sessions, panel discussions, artist talks, receptions, an awards ceremony and more.  You can check out the full film line-up and schedule over at Women In film + Television Vancouver.

For our Community Partner film this year, we have a talented director that has played numerous times at Cinemafantastique Film Festival over the years….drum roll please….!

From Vancouver Gigi Saul Guerrero’s  film  LA QUINCEAÑERA !!! Running time 70min.

Alejandra’s life is about to change forever on the night of her quinceañera, a coming of age ceremony held on a girl’s fifteenth birthday. In this daring revenge tale, a young girl will learn the limits of resilience and strength as she is thrust into the most extraordinary of situations over the course of 24 hours. The director has been praised for innovative work in the horror genre and this work reflects her recognizable style of Tex-Mex grit with a touch of grindhouse and gore.

Don’t miss this BC PREMIERE screening on Saturday, March 9, 9:30 pm. There will be a Q&A with Gigi after the screening as well!! Checkout the trailer below. CINEMAFANTASTIQUE 4 – SPECIAL GUESTS – AUGUST 25th, 2018

Video Nasties CinemafantastiqueCinemafantastique 4 will be at the Vacnity Theatre, 1181 Seymour Street in Vancouver, Saturday AUGUST 25th. This year’s 10 hours of genre film mayhem will also include some amazing special guests, producers, distributors, and filmmaker Q&As with Vancouver’s own Bad Cookie Pictures, Off World Pictures, Darkside Releasing, David Aboussafy from Vancouver’s BADASS Genre Film Fest, and we’ll also be premiering the trailer for Darkside Releasing’s upcoming Canadian release of James Bickert’s Amazon Hot Box (scheduled before the kick-ass closing film, THE THETA GIRL). Our on-site vendors (yes, you can purchase things other than alcohol and popcorn there!) will include Cranium of Curiosities, Netherworld Collectibles, Darkside Releasing, and Shivers Entertainment – and this will all be tied together by the beats of our very special guest DJ, Cinema Therapy. People from our past Cinemafantastique fests may recognize our special guest DJ as the director of the film The Red Man, which was screened to a fantastically receptive audience at Cinemafantastiqique 2 in 2016. We are so pleased to welcome Jimmie “Cinema Therapy” Gonzalez back to Vancouver to be a part of this year’s wild genre film fest! Please, come and join us on August 25th at the Vancity Theatre for this single-priced all-day event, featuring film awards and raffle prizes – doors open at 11:30am, the event begins at noon sharp! Cinemafantastique 4 will be at the Vancity Theatre, 1181 Seymour Street in Vancouver, Saturday AUGUST 25th. This year’s 10 hours of genre film mayhem includes a block of short films guaranteed to slay and three insane feature films including our opening films KYRSYA TUFTLAD and a wild adaptation of Stephen King’s “POPSY”, and the new cult fan-favourite festival closer THE THETA GIRL. Local filmmakers from Bad Cookie Pictures and last year’s horror-short winners, Richard and Samantha Lukacs, along with several other guests including Jimmie Gonzalez (director of 2016’s The Red Man) who will be our “Cinema Therapy” DJ throughout the day. More local filmmakers will be in attendance, along with the Vancouver genre film distribution company Darkside Releasing, who will be soft-launching their newest release, Rob Grant’s 16mm zombie gore-a-thon Yesterday on blu-ray, and David Aboussafy from the annual Vancouver BADASS film festival! This all-day event is a must for all local indie and genre filmmakers, a chance to get out and network with peers, filmmakers, actors, and to celebrate amazing genre cinema and thrilling grindhouse-style feature films, which have never before been seen in Western Canada! Prizes, giveaways, raffle tickets at the door, and one cheap-ass entry free that gets you in ALL DAY – everything starts at noon on the 25th! Shivers presents Shivers on National Canadian Film Day! (April 29th)

On April 29th, National Canadian Film Day, the SHIVERS FILM SOCIETY will be presenting the early David Cronenberg shorts Stereo and Crimes of the Future, with his first feature film SHIVERS! Visit the EVENT PAGE here.

Tickets are just $12 for all films (plus a SECRET Cronenberg short film!) – and include the Shivers Annual Membership!

Tickets will be available for pickup at the theatre.
