DARKSIDE RELEASING

HAPPY #NOIRVEMBER!

The Lightest Darkness is the first-ever female directed Russian film noir — with reverse chronology.

When a neurotic private eye, who is struggling to finish his last case, takes a train voyage to confront the inevitability of his investigation’s conclusion, his own dark secrets begin to reveal themselves…

Spurred by film-noir momentum and Kafkian conundrum, The Lightest Darkness is a visually stunning neo-noir thriller set around the fictional City of “N” as two fearless women board a train for a dangerous trip. Arina (Irina Gevorgyan), an obstinate screenwriter who is currently seeking crime-related inspiration for a new video game, and Elina (Marina Voytuk), a self-reliant pianist who has witnessed the murder of a serial killer; share their car with Musin (Rashid Aitouganov), an insomniac, neurotic, and traumatized private detective who has been riding on the same train for six months, and whose bizarre behavior leads them to believe…

Cinemafantastique 5 is a go!!

We are so looking forward to another installment of Cinemafantastique! Our Cinemafantastique5 Film Freeway is up and running if you would like to submit your films. Once again we are looking for the weird and wonderful that make up the spectrum of Horror, Thriller, Sci-fi, and Erotic films…really we like anything that is on the Darkside (pun intended), so if you have an animation, drama, comedy, or a documentary film, you can submit that too!! Once again we would like to thank everyone for their patience while we attended to our Darkside adventures; we are excited to be back, and see what you talented folks have going on!

We’d also like to thank Richard and Samantha Lukacs of Crone Cult Pictures for the awesome photography we were able to use to make our graphics this year.

Cinemafantastique 5 Update.

CF4_FilmFreeway_Banner_2

I would like to thank everyone who has been inquiring into when we will be accepting entries into Cinemafantastique 5! Some of you may be aware that we started an indie, genre distribution company Darkside Releasing and we are trying really hard to get the filmmakers films that have signed with us out to the world to see via Blu-ray , VOD etc. and well to be frank it is a shit ton of work for 2 people; one of those still working their full time ‘day’ job.

So unfortunately for 2019 we haven’t been able to plan for a festival that would be able to showcase the films in the way we would like. That being said we are hoping to be back in 2020 for the full day or two festival, and we are still toying with  ‘Pop ups’ at smaller venues because we are crazy like that.  We will let everyone know when we open on FilmFreeway for entries as we no longer accept through email or another platform at this time.

We would still love to promote any other festivals and events that are happening out there, so please drop us an email to nicole@cinemafantastique.org or be in touch through Facebook, Instagram or Twitter if you would like us to shout out your event!!

Thank you again for all your support!!

Alejandra’s life is about to change forever on the night of her quinceañera, a coming of age ceremony held on a girl’s fifteenth birthday. In this daring revenge tale, a young girl will learn the limits of resilience and strength as she is thrust into the most extraordinary of situations over the course of 24 hours. The director has been praised for innovative work in the horror genre and this work reflects her recognizable style of Tex-Mex grit with a touch of grindhouse and gore.

Don’t miss this BC PREMIERE screening on Saturday, March 9, 9:30 pm. There will be a Q&A with Gigi after the screening as well!! Checkout the trailer below. We will also be giving away 2 TICKETS to the screening via our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so be sure to like and follow so you know when that is happening!

Check out La Quinceañera’s  Facebook event page   and tickets are available now at Vancity Theatre – La Quinceanera

Also screening before La Quinceañera will be the North American Premiere of the short film Hearth by Quebec Director Sophie B. Jacques. Running time 11min
