We are so looking forward to another installment of Cinemafantastique! Our Cinemafantastique5 Film Freeway is up and running if you would like to submit your films. Once again we are looking for the weird and wonderful that make up the spectrum of Horror, Thriller, Sci-fi, and Erotic films…really we like anything that is on the Darkside (pun intended), so if you have an animation, drama, comedy, or a documentary film, you can submit that too!! Once again we would like to thank everyone for their patience while we attended to our Darkside adventures; we are excited to be back, and see what you talented folks have going on!
We’d also like to thank Richard and Samantha Lukacs of Crone Cult Pictures for the awesome photography we were able to use to make our graphics this year.
Hello Everyone! Just a quick post to let all you awesome filmmakers know that submissions are open over at our FilmFreeway site page. Early Bird rates run from September 15 – October 13 (Yes! a Friday the 13th in October!) We had so many great submissions last year, and are looking forward to what crazy, bloody, awesomeness will be submitted to this year’s!
We will only be selecting films that have gone through our Cinemafantastique 4 FilmFreeway site page and not via our company/personal emails or social media platforms, and we are very pleased to offer hugely competitive submission rates! As a non-profit all money goes into making the festival the best it can be. We’re looking forward to seeing your films this season!!
We have a great lineup of films for this year’s festival! We wanted to have a bit of fun for this year, so most of the films will hopefully make you laugh, but don’t worry we will still be taking you to the darkside. There is a ton of great talent here, and we’d like to share a bit about them so you get as excited as us for SATURDAY AUGUST 26th at the Vancity Theatre in Vancouver BC, Canada!!
This is NOT going to be the screening order, we will keep you posted on that at a later date.
Thank you again to all the filmmakers for submitting their work, and putting their art out into the world!!

Cinemafantastique 2 was what indie filmmaking is all about, genuine ass-kicking passion for what you love. There was such a great energy flowing through the theatre that I’m sure I was not the only one inspired to start the ‘next one’ sooner rather than later. We wish all the filmmakers the very best with their projects! Some of the films are still running the film fest circuit and others have started to get picked up for distribution, please do yourself a favour and track these films down (by legit means please), you will not be disappointed!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated, participated, and came out to Cinemafantastique 2! We had a great bunch of films and a truly awesome group of people in attendance. Thank you to UBC and the UBC Film Society for letting us use the Norm Theatre, and in fact be the last ones in the theatre for 2 years while everything is torn down and rebuilt.
Cinemafantastique 3 will be opening for submissions shortly, so stay tuned to Twitter and the like for updates!
CINEMAFANTASTIQUE 2 (2016) will be held in Vancouver (once again) and is now accepting submissions in both the short and the feature film categories. 2016’s festival outline is: HORROR, EROTIC, GIALLO, SURREALISM.
